In his trademark optimistic style, the author plunges into an in-depth exploration of the life of the sanctified Christian. He begins by showing how to obtain a cleansed heart, but he does not stop there. He exults in the different shades of divine love and discloses the multiple stages of developing growth in a sanctified life. Exhorting believers to press on toward the prize and refuse to be distracted by the forgiven past, he builds toward a final panorama of glory. Watson was very much a master of the typology of his day, and his skill shines in the section dealing with the Holy Spirit—a cherished topic in many of his books. Chapters include The Heavenly Life, Stages in the Heavenly Life, Two Kinds of Love, The Report of the Twelve Spies, The Heavenly Esther, Kadesh-Barnea, and many more.
